Supporting Narrative
The artifact that I present contains a conversation that is important to me. This artifact discusses technology as a culture. As asked for in the competencies, I read multiple pieces of educational literature. I relied on several influential leaders in the field of educational technology to support my viewpoint. One of my favorite authors is Marc Prensky. He discusses how technology must be in the classroom because the world is constantly relying on technology for so many parts of our everyday life. Using this idea, I created a paper that discusses technology as a culture in the classroom.
Using various authors to support this idea, I supported why we need to change how we think of technology in the classroom. We need to begin thinking about technology as a culture. So many teachers are afraid to bring technology into the classroom. In this paper, I relied on research to help me support this idea of technology as a culture. How I view technology in the classroom is important as a leader, however, doing what’s best for students is the main goal. It is important to stay up to date on the latest developments.
The second sub-competency asks that I describe fundamental theories of human learning. In this artifact, I talk about how the attitudes and behaviors of teachers can impact their ability to use technology in the classroom. Staying up to date with the most current research in your specific field is the best way to advance human learning. We cannot begin to know the perfect way or ways to educate a child or an adult. In this specific artifact, I can connect theories such as positivity, professional development opportunities as well as access to resources and their impact on student learning in the classroom. In my artifact, I discuss the best way to develop student learning using technology in the most effective way.
As the sub-competency suggests, I took my research and understanding of human learning, diversity, and effective pedagogy and solved the problem presented in my paper. I discussed some solutions to helping technology become more of a culture instead of something to check off a list. This dive into solutions is the final tie that makes this artifact a perfect piece of evidence for this competency. I have been watching technology grow and change in my own district. I have watched it begin to become a culture. I had an opportunity to explore this phenomenon and develop solutions to support any issues that I discovered in my paper.
In this artifact, I explored and researched extensively on this specific topic. Connecting research and topics is an area of growth I could improve upon.
